I love going downhill, but i got troubles to stop since i get faster than 25/30 km/h.
Any tip to slow down easier, because even if my backfeet is "free", it takes me forever to stop ...

when your bombing down a hill sometimes the best way to slow down is a powerslide into a 180...like if you have ever been snow boarding when you go on either heel side or toeside edge and head back down in switch, its the same concept... if you cant pull off a power slide at those speeds or have problems with switch then youd be best off using what i call the falling leaf which is like wide turns heel side and toe side to keep you from bombing straight down a hill, the more turns you do the slower youll go

Slide gloves! I have been taking my Freelines downhill up to 40-45mph and slide gloves make all the difference when it comes to stopping or slowing down........ When bombing I ride in a low stance like a tuck, which helps me gain more speed but also puts me lower to the ground so when it comes time to stop I can put a hand on the ground and drag it, or when doing a power slide i can put the hand on the ground behind me for a more controlled slide....

The Brakes on the Freelines are like the brakes on a snowboard or skateboard... There are none! Either learn how to safely slide or learn how to eat crap! As you practice your back foot power slides at slower speeds, eventually you can start sliding both feet. The more you practice this, the more comfortable it gets, the faster you can go and be able to pull it off safely. Kinda like snowboarding, you can throw a little slide from side to side - heel-side toe-side until you get slow enough (under 30 mph) to throw a big huge long powerslide with both feet.
Or... just aim for a neighbors grassy front yard to tuck and roll through =>

Carve really hard and air break (use your body and clothes as a parachute). and the at what ever speed you feel comfortable sliding, pull a speed check or shutdown slide. I know what you mean with speeds 35Kmph+, sliding is very unpredictable.

I feel like any concave, Either dropped concave or true concave (Dropped= concave upon the side of the foot; true= concave at the toe and heel) would help lock your feet onto the plates for more controlled hands down and 15mph+ 180's.

Yesterday i tried a very small hill and being the lazy person I am I didn't try to find my pads and helmet. I started to get a little to cocky as i've done hills like it before, but the problem was that when I started to carve one skate slipped from under me and well head first I went. Luckily I used to Mountain Board so I was used to falling, but I ended up throwing my sun glasses and headphones. I can't wait to get back out there, but has anyone had that happen to them were the skate happens to fishtail a little and get away from you. If so how would I go about fixing that problem, besides wearing a helmet and pads, I've figured that one out already.

@AJMDownhill I would just keep practicing those slides.... because it sounds like your front foot might not be sliding as much as the back, that can cause you to 180 at higher speeds.... really try to put your weight up front when going into the slide and then even out your weight a little as the back skate evens up with the front.... keeping some weight on the front will help you come out of the slide in your regular stance...
@Michael Wilson sounds like you just might need to be a little more planted on the skates... I've had my skates do the same thing after I've gotten tired or worn out from riding all day, most the time it will bubble and I will recover it... but I notice that it only happens to me when I'm tired and I'm not as sure footed on the skates... hope I get a chance to bomb some hills with all of you!

@B-RADO Thanks for the tip, that's been something I've noticed that as well. I'm still trying to get my "Thunder Thighs" back in shape so I can ride longer. I've only had my Freelines for about a month, so I'm still getting a little used to the rhythm of pumping. I'm getting better every time I ride, but I'll work on what you said, thanks.

@B-RADO, I've been getting them a little better. Thanks for the tips. I mostly found its how you set up the slide more then how you weight the slide. Cause lets be honest, there isn't alot of things you can do once they break and start to slide, just hold it out and stop when your ready to.

@AJMdownhill very true...I agree completely about the set up, how you go into the slide will set up what happens in the slide, how your weight is on the skates will help control the set up.. but when already in the slide there are options that are controlled by weight placement.... you can speed check and just lose some speed, shutdown, speed check to switch... if you control the slide the options are there... it just takes some practice to stay in control of the slide... I'm still working on my slides as well, but I am pretty controlled in them so far, but I am going through sets of wheels like they are made of butter..lol..

@B-RADO, Yeah these wheels do shred thane like its butter, but that makes the slide so smooth with no chatter. I really can only complain that I'm spending $40 every few weeks to freeline, college takes enough of my money.

When I was fine-tuning the formula with our wheel manufacturer, It was all about having a wheel that lasted longer than any wheel on the market. Anything harder and they get too slippery, anything softer and they wear down super fast. Most longboard wheels are about a 78a duro. They are soft and smooth, but they wear down twice as fast as Freeline wheels. I'm testing our samples of a 85a duro wheel now and so far they are awesome!!! They are a little harder so you feel more of the rocks and cracks in the road, but they last much longer and you can slide for days. It's boarder-line too slippery, but really fun and super controlled doing big slides at high speeds. Hopefully we will add them to our line this Summer.

Sweet, I've been looking to try out a different duro, but I didn't want to waste money on longboarding wheels that don't fit right. The current wheels are soooo buttery in a slide its scary and you can see all of the thane left behind. It just pops out of the road with yellow and red wheels. I'd be really interested to see how the 85a wheels gripped and if they can be slid flatter than the current wheels. With the current 82a I find my plates are at a really sharp angle in a slide, do the 85a's help at all with a flatter plate during a slide; because thats what making me spend money, the wheels get super ovally and after a while most of a slide is on the casted "truck" and become super unpredictable.

They would be for someone who likes sliding a lot. They are not as smooth on flat land, as you can feel more little cracks and rocks, but they last a bit longer as far as wear goes.

Very nice AJM. I wish I could get to that point, my knee is still a little sore from my wipe-out about a month ago. Luckily I can still ride. I loved the toe side around the bank, when you laid both hands down; very smooth transition.

This Oct 8th and 9th come on out to San Dimas, CA to check out some of the Freeline Pro Downhill Team doing demos in-between races on the downhill course. We have been asked to come out and show off for the crowd, are we going to? HELL YES we will be there. Brent Thomas is flying in for it, Ryno will be there, Kindra Bell, Evan Perez, and hopefully some of the cats from Harvey Mudd including G and Mike. Expect to see some high speed action and some serious crashes into the hay-bails. Here is the website http://www.igsaworldcup.com/ see you there!

Nice man, Like those 180's. U should think about picking up a helmet and slide gloves and start sliding down hills.
I personally just got a new edit up where I drift some hairpins with my longboarding buddy. Check It!!!

here's another way to cut your speed.
one poster above mentioned that they still end up going really fast even while keeping the back foot out.
this video shows how you "lean AND (turn in or out)" to cut your speed.
